Sankaku-gatame
Sankaku-gatame is a triangle control used as a hold-down in this curriculum. Tori encloses Uke's head and one arm between the legs, turns the triangle to control Uke's shoulder line, and settles the body over Uke so the back remains pinned.

Movement sequence
- Isolate Uke's head and one arm, placing one thigh across the side of the neck and the other beneath the armpit.
- Lock the legs in a triangle without crossing over the ankle joint, then turn the angle to control the trapped shoulder.
- Settle your weight over Uke, control the near leg or belt as needed, and avoid applying unnecessary neck pressure.
- Keep the pressure responsive rather than rigid, protect Uke's face and breathing, and release when Mate is called.
