Daki-wakare

Daki-wakare is a side sacrifice throw against an opponent on hands and knees or moving into that posture. Tori wraps Uke's upper body from behind, lifts and turns it close, and falls to the side so Uke rolls over Tori's body.

Movement sequence

  1. Approach a bent or four-point Uke from behind and wrap the torso securely above the hips.
  2. Draw Uke upward and close so the shoulders can rotate as one unit with your chest.
  3. Twist and fall to the side, carrying Uke over your body while keeping the head and neck clear.
  4. Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
