Ude-hishigi-hara-gatame

Ude-hishigi-hara-gatame is an abdominal arm lock. Tori controls Uke's wrist and presses the straight arm across the abdomen or hip so the torso becomes the fulcrum beneath the elbow.

Movement sequence

  1. Isolate Uke's arm and control the wrist with the thumb line oriented safely.
  2. Place your abdomen or hip precisely beneath Uke's elbow while preventing the shoulder from turning.
  3. Draw the wrist and extend your posture gradually, releasing immediately at the tap.
  4. Apply only under qualified supervision, increase pressure gradually, and release immediately when Uke taps.
