Waki-gatame

Ude-hishigi-waki-gatame is an armpit arm lock. Tori controls Uke's wrist, traps the upper arm beneath the armpit, and extends the elbow against the torso while maintaining a stable posture.

Movement sequence

  1. Secure Uke's wrist with both hands and draw the straight arm close to your ribs.
  2. Clamp the upper arm beneath your armpit with the elbow aligned against your torso.
  3. Apply pressure gradually by controlling posture and body angle; never drop suddenly onto the arm.
  4. Apply only under qualified supervision, increase pressure gradually, and release immediately when Uke taps.
