Kani-basami
Kani-basami is a scissor sacrifice throw. Tori turns sideways in the air, places one leg across Uke's lower abdomen and the other behind both knees, and closes the legs while falling to take Uke backward. This high-risk technique is prohibited in shiai and must not be practised in randori.

Movement sequence
- Treat this as historical identification only and use a qualified instructor and controlled demonstration setting.
- The defining position has one leg across the front of Uke's hip line and the other behind both knees as Tori falls sideways.
- Do not apply the scissoring action in free practice; uncontrolled execution can cause severe knee injury.
- Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
Safety and training context
Use this page to prepare for coached practice, not as a substitute for instruction. Throws, locks, and strangles require appropriate experience, a qualified partner, safe matting, and direct supervision.
