Kata-guruma
Kata-guruma is a shoulder wheel. In its classical form, Tori breaks Uke's balance forward, controls an arm and the inside of a thigh, loads Uke across both shoulders, and wheels Uke down while retaining the arm.

Movement sequence
- Pull Uke forward and lower your level beneath Uke's center of gravity.
- Control Uke's arm and reach to the inside of the corresponding thigh as you place Uke across your shoulders.
- Rise with a stable spine and wheel Uke to the side under continuous arm control.
- Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
Safety and training context
Use this page to prepare for coached practice, not as a substitute for instruction. Throws, locks, and strangles require appropriate experience, a qualified partner, safe matting, and direct supervision.
