Seoi-otoshi
Seoi-otoshi is a shoulder drop. Tori breaks Uke's balance forward, fits beneath the controlled arm as for seoi-nage, and drops to one or both knees while pulling Uke forward over the back.

Movement sequence
- Draw Uke forward and fit the throwing-side arm tightly beneath Uke's armpit.
- Turn fully with your back connected, then lower one or both knees without collapsing the spine.
- Pull and rotate Uke over the shoulder line while preserving the controlled arm through the landing.
- Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
Safety and training context
