Ko-uchi-gari/Makikomi

This curriculum entry links Ko-uchi-gari with a makikomi finish. Tori first attacks the inside of Uke's loaded foot; if Uke resists upright, Tori secures the arm and continues the same backward off-balance into a controlled wraparound action.

Movement sequence

  1. Shift Uke's weight onto the target foot and begin the inner reap of Ko-uchi-gari.
  2. If the reap stalls, keep the leg connection and trap the near arm as your torso closes to Uke.
  3. Continue forward and around into the makikomi finish without twisting Uke's knee or landing heavily on the torso.
  4. Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.

Safety and training context
