Koshi-guruma
Koshi-guruma is a hip wheel. Tori breaks Uke's balance forward, encircles the head and shoulder without twisting the neck, places the hip deeply across Uke, and rotates Uke around that hip axis.

Movement sequence
- Draw Uke forward and turn close enough to place your arm around the head-and-shoulder line.
- Insert the hips deeply across Uke with bent knees and maintain chest contact.
- Extend and rotate in one continuous action while the sleeve hand controls Uke's landing.
- Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
Safety and training context
Use this page to prepare for coached practice, not as a substitute for instruction. Throws, locks, and strangles require appropriate experience, a qualified partner, safe matting, and direct supervision.
