O-goshi
O-goshi is a major hip throw. Tori breaks Uke's balance forward, reaches around the waist, places the hips fully across and below Uke's center of gravity, then lifts and rotates Uke over the back of the hip.

Movement sequence
- Pull Uke forward and enter close enough to wrap the waist without reaching or leaning away.
- Turn until both feet are stable and place the hips below and across Uke's hips.
- Straighten the legs while rotating the torso and guiding Uke over the hip with continuous sleeve control.
- Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
Safety and training context
