Kuchiki-taoshi

Kuchiki-taoshi is a one-hand drop. Tori lifts one of Uke's legs with a hand from the inside or outside and uses upper-body control to push Uke backward over the remaining support. Direct leg attacks are restricted under current IJF contest rules.

Movement sequence

  1. Control Uke's upper body and secure one leg without reaching with the head exposed.
  2. Lift the captured leg while stepping close enough to keep Uke's hips contained.
  3. Direct Uke backward over the standing leg and guide the landing under current rules and supervision.
  4. Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
