Sasae-tsurikomi-ashi

Sasae-tsurikomi-ashi is a supporting-foot lift-pull throw. Tori draws Uke toward the front corner, places the sole against the front of Uke's loaded ankle as a pivot, and turns Uke over that fixed point with coordinated lifting and pulling.

Movement sequence

  1. Lead Uke into a step and draw the upper body toward the front corner of the advancing leg.
  2. Place the sole lightly against the front of the loaded ankle, not the knee, while your support leg stays clear.
  3. Lift and turn with the lapel hand, pull the sleeve around, and rotate Uke over the blocked ankle.
  4. Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
