Ude-hishigi-te-gatame

Ude-hishigi-te-gatame is a hand arm lock. Tori controls Uke's wrist and arm with the hands and forearms, fixes the shoulder or jacket, and extends or rotates the elbow into a controlled locking line.

Movement sequence

  1. Secure Uke's wrist and prevent the elbow and shoulder from turning together.
  2. Use the free hand or forearm to fix the upper arm, shoulder, or jacket in the required variation.
  3. Apply the elbow lock through measured hand and body pressure and release immediately at the tap.
  4. Apply only under qualified supervision, increase pressure gradually, and release immediately when Uke taps.
