Uchi-makikomi

Uchi-makikomi is an inner wraparound throw. Tori breaks Uke's balance forward, controls Uke's arm from the inside, turns the hips deeply across, and wraps Uke around the body during a controlled side fall.

Movement sequence

  1. Draw Uke forward and secure the near arm from the inside against your upper body.
  2. Turn deeply across Uke with close chest and hip connection.
  3. Continue the rotation into the mat while carrying Uke around your torso and protecting the landing.
  4. Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
