Uchi-mata-makikomi

Uchi-mata-makikomi is an inner-thigh wraparound throw. Tori begins uchi-mata, traps Uke's near arm, and continues the inner-thigh lift and body rotation into a controlled side-falling wrap.

Movement sequence

  1. Enter for uchi-mata with Uke drawn strongly toward the front corner.
  2. Secure Uke's near arm beneath your armpit while the sweeping thigh lifts from inside.
  3. Carry the rotation into a side fall, keeping close contact and protecting Uke's ribs and shoulder.
  4. Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
