Ude-gatame

Ude-hishigi-ude-gatame is a straight arm lock. Tori traps Uke's wrist between the neck and shoulder, controls the elbow with both hands, and extends the joint while preventing the shoulder from turning.

Movement sequence

  1. Place Uke's wrist securely between your neck and shoulder with the thumb-side orientation controlled.
  2. Set both hands over or around the elbow while keeping Uke's shoulder pinned.
  3. Press the elbow in a controlled line against the joint and release immediately at the tap.
  4. Apply only under qualified supervision, increase pressure gradually, and release immediately when Uke taps.
