DJB pathway · Throw lesson
Ushiro-goshi
Ushiro-goshi is a rear hip counter. Tori stops Uke's forward throw by lowering the hips, embraces and lifts Uke vertically, then directs Uke down in front without inserting the hips for a second hip throw.

Movement sequence
- Meet Uke's entry with a low, stable center and secure the waist from behind or the side.
- Lift Uke straight upward using your legs while keeping your chest connected.
- Guide Uke down in front or slightly to the side under control, avoiding a backward head-first fall.
- Maintain the controlling grip, guide Uke to a safe landing, and practise the action under qualified supervision.
Safety and training context
